I have a Pismo running OS 10.3.5 and have not been able to download any new files using either Safari or Explorer. I get a message in the download manager box that says unable to create file. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks...

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?

restart?
try later??
seems like an odd problem.
try downloading from another source, for example.
possibly, run disk aid, etc...

Downnloading from a different source or waiting will ot fix this problem--it would appear to be one with the fily system. I would try reapairing permissions and repairing your disk, and also checking that your browser is set to save downloaded files in a place where you have sufficient permissions (which depending on your setup may only be within your home folder).

Ever since I updated my G4 iBook to 10.3.5, I get a message that says "mounting failed" when I download a dmg file. Doesn't sound like the exact symptom you're having (in my case, the file actually downloads, but doesn't mount) , but close. Evidently it's happened to lots of other people, too.

I had that bugger of a problem on my eMac. Didn't get fixed until I did a clean install of OS X.

I am able to download again. I simply highlighted the Desktop Folder and then pulled down to get info under File. At the bottom of that info window it appeared that permission to alter the desktop had been switched to the system. I changed it to my ID and everything was back to normal. Perhaps this will help others. Thanks for your input.
