Has the "white spot" defect been fixed with the 15" powerbook? I might be getting a 15" powerbook, but the horror stories of defective screens make me a little aprehensive.

Yes, it has been fixed.
The latest revision has not been experiencing any white spots.

Wasn't it fixed within days of the problem cropping up nearly a year ago?

I don't see how you could fix a problem within days that involves thousands of faulty units, already distributed to the public.

I don't meant to freak you guys out, but after getting my screen replaced 3 times... it was fine for months and months, but .. slowly .. they have come back. This was long after they fixed the problem btw.

I will get it swapped again soon.

I meant the fixing of the problem with new units... which is what would concern the thread starter. I got my PowerBook about a week after the PowerBooks were released and I didn't have any warping, white spots or faulty hinges. I have had it for nearly year and I haven't had a single problem except for some very minor pitting that you have to look closely for.
