well- she was a trooper, but her time has come. I'm just not sure what to get to replace her. This machine is used mostly for internet and Office. I'm considering 3 options:
1. Factory refurbished G4/800
2. Brand new iBook
3. Refurbished 12" powerbook
Is it it worth it to spend the extra cash on the pb vs the ibook considering its usage?
Oh- and i need to be able to watch DVDs on it. Maybe burn CDs and definitely not burn DVDs. I couldn't put together a movie on that little screen if I wanted to.
I haven't kept track of the iBook recently and I am just trying to figure out what is out there and what to get.
Any input apprecated.

Why not get a refurbished 1GHz 12" iBook. I personally wouldn't go the 800MHz way due to the low cache, less processor speed, and other things that make Rev A's suck. Go with a 1GHz iBook and you won't look back in regret, it's basically the same thing as my 1GHz PB except for a few minor things.

The Apple Store has them occasionally. Click the red price tag in the lower-right of the Apple Store page. There are none there right now, however, but the SuperDrive-equipped 12" PowerBook is back.
Check over the next few days and see if the iBook/12"/1Ghz comes back.
This is how I bought my TiBook a few years ago.

Have your needs changed? If not then go for the iBook. You won't use the extra stuff on the powerbook. I would get a refurb 1Ghz iBook.

I agree on the ibook- it's really all I need for this computer- I already have the 17" PB-
Though one of my dealer friends is offering me this:
1 $1349 "Mini" PowerBook G4/1 GHz, 256 MB of RAM, 40 GB internal drive, internal Combo Drive, internal 56k modem, 12.1" TFT display
for $1284 - WITH APPLECARE
aaarrrggghhhh!

I have a Rev B 12" and it's a great computer. But without a RAM upgrade or Airport Extreme card I think he's asking a bit too much even with Applecare on the machine. I'd ask $1300 for mine and mine has 1.25GB of RAM+Airport Extreme card+Applecare. You should see if he can lower the price a little, if not go to the Apple store and get yourself a refurbished 12" 1GHZ iBook which is essentially the same thing as the 12" 1GHz PB except for the audio in and mini DVI plugs, and save yoursef a few hundred dollars (I believe it's selling for $949 and the 800MHz model is selling for $749 quite a bit less then the 'book your friend is offering you.
