Repost from OS X discussion, since it's starting to seem it may not be software issue...
I had/have my iBook (old clamshell model) set up so that it asks password when waking from sleep. Well, I put it to sleep for a minute and when I tried to wake it up, nothing. Screen stays black, no password prompt. I can hear machine is running but nothing helps.
Restarted. Still black. Did the screen actually die on me or what? I can log in just fine judging from the sounds iBook make. Resetting pram didn't help, nor do I know if it should have.
Filesharing works, as does ssh. How can I see the processes running on my iBook remotely? Any suggestions at all? Time for a new laptop?
iBook doesn't sleep anymore. And there are some cracks in the handle but these have been here for a long time.
I've also tried connecting to tv for mirroring and and automatic resolution change but no image on either screen.

How's your battery? I had a similar problem as my ibook battery started to crap out. Batt seemed fine but as it turned out- it was dying. Same thing applies if it's plugged in sometimes. but once I bought a new battery all was well - (til the display went- 2 weeks later)

Don't get me wrong- this iBook has been beaten hard and it still works!

You have a bad logic board.

I posted a little more info in your OS X thread.

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3
