starting coolage soon and I was looking at the 15" 1.33ghz powerbook with 512ram, how much of a gain in performace would that be over my 1.5ghz celeron laptop?
also, what diference will their be in performance from the 14" ibook and the 15"powerbook?

I am wondering the same thing...trying to decide between an ibook that is fully loaded or a powerbook that is just the basics....

I'm not sure what kind of performance gains you'll see on the powerbook versus the celeron but it probably depends on what kind of stuff you're looking to do on your mac.
As for ibook vs powerbook, a little searching (google or this board) should turn up a benchmark or two. But I think the real benefit of the PowerBook is the extra features like monitor spanning, firewire 800, and display quality. If those matter then I'd say go for the PowerBook, if not grab the iBook and spend any extra money on ram (can't have too much of that ).
I just finished up college myself and had a 12" ibook 700Mhz the last 2 years I was there. Kinda slow but did everything I wanted it to including taking a heavy beating. If you want to stay mobile I'd say take a look at the 12" ibook. It sounds kinda small but I always found it to be just the right size and the 1Ghz G4 in it now should work great for typing papers, email and web browsing.

The first thing you might want to do is learn to spell "college." Admission standards must be really low these days.
