pb ai 1.25ghz, 1.5gb ram...purchased in april 2004. hard freeze when burning dvd in idvd. removing and swapping ram chips made no diff - went under 1gb ram, no diff...clean install, reinstalling apple apps only, still freezes. not often, but this has never - and i mean never - happened on any titanium i had, and i've owned 2. now, while browsing in safari - www.seatguru.com - it froze. upon reboot, mail and ichat will not open. one bounce in the dock is all i get. disk warrior found nothing. drive diagnostics say the hard drive is fine. anyone seen this behavior?

A friend of mine had a similar problem with an iBook. There would just be a hard freeze, especially when printing. I'm not exactly sure what the particular problem was, but it was obvious that, after 3 reformats & installs, it was a hardware problem. Your best bet is to take it in while you are still under warranty and get a new logic board. I found that you have to be pretty tough with Apple support because they are quick to jump to conclusions. They try every software thing, and it just doesn't work. So, I'd call them and firmly tell them your problem. They will probably install a new logic board. Good Luck!

I will also point out that I have problems with Apple support because they WILL tell people that they have a hardware problem whenever they can't figure out what's going on. We get complaints when we have to charge people for fixing their software problem that isn't covered under Apple's hardware warranty. Of course, Apple sent them to us, claiming they had a hardware problem.
