I buy from transintl.com for memory. I am sure others will post more information for you. Just search this board an you will see great buys; 1 Ghz for only $159

Sometimes memory sticks can cause kernel panics.
If you begin to have problems in the future with either stock or third party memory, I recommend re-inserting the chip before seeking a replacement. I suspect that sometimes one of the many copper contact surfaces on the chip may oxidize and cause a loose connection. Someone had kernel panics, but re-inserted his chip and his Powerbook again worked normally, just recently, although I cannot remember which forum I read this on. When Apple had my laptop under repair for a screen hardware issue they claimed my third party chip was causing kernel panics and removed it. Since I had used the chip for a whole year without incident I re-inserted the chip and so far I have no problems.

i just upgraded my 17 1.3ghz PB from (2) 512 chips to (1) 512 and (1) new 1 gig chip. i was surprised to see that Xbench is registering SLOWER memory tests and slower overall results than before the upgrade. but i don't think its a bad chip. just the 1 gig chip by itself registers as fast as the (2) 512's did. but any combo of 1.5 gigs registers slower. is this a fault of Xbench or???
any other apps i can test RAM speeds with, or???
any advice appreciated, thanks!
