anyone know if you can use a new 12" pbook battery in the first gen 12" pbook?

dont get it unless you need it .. i hear the batteries have a half life ... shrug

my battery is almost dead, it only lasts like 10 minute these days. the reason i asked is because it costs more to get the 'older' batteries and takes a few weeks.

Batteries do have a halflife. And if you are getting 10 minutes on a charge its time to replace the battery.

Last night my PB (first gen 12-inch) went from a supposed 45 percent charge to 0 percent (and a dark screen). It's pretty frustrating.
On the other hand, the battery is 19 months old and is constantly being charged and re-charged. So I guess I got my money's worth out of it. I have a new battery I bought a year ago and never used. Two days after it went out of warranty, I tried. Dead. I keep hoping if I try again, it will work...
But I haven't gotten around to it yet. Just lazy, I guess.

Does anyone know if there are any high capacity batteries. I see they have them for the 15 inch, but I cant find anything for the 12 inch powerbook...

same story here... looks like a full charge then after 10 mins or so instantly down to nothing. it's about 16 months old... basically you're going to be paying the same price as the apple store, online or local.
i bought it from a local shop since it's the same price.
