I have heard people talk on this forum about AppleCare/Apple Tech Support as if it was different from Apple Customer Support.
Can someone explain what the difference is?
I have a problem with the LCD screen on a 3 year old Titanium G4 (i.e. out of warrantee) and I would like to explore getting it fixed.
I took it to the local Applestore and the guy at the Guru desk said that Apple would charge a minimum of $380 to even look at it... And that repairing the LCD screen might cost over $1,000. That seems pretty steep for a machine that cost me a little over $2k new.
Is the Applestore Guru guy Apple Tech Support, Customer Support, or neither? Is his suggestion that the fix might cost $1,000 fit with anyone else's actual experience.
Is there a telephone number for Apple Customer Support?
Would it make sense to talk to them rather than the Applestore folks?
And if the machine is out of warrantee and not under AppleCare... Can one still call AppleCare and get tech support?
TIA,
