i noticed today that in addition to the slight warping above the slot drive's slit, and the screen 'wing' warping, the aluminum on top of the DVI out is pushed outwards, upon closer observation, there seems to be a dent on that particular corner. not very noticable, but now that i found it, i see it all the time. ah well, **** happens. i'm pissed, but oddly, not as much as i thought i would be. i guess that's good in some respect. i guess i realize that it's jus a machine, a tool that i need to use and a dent is not the end of the world.

this dent is nowhere near big enough to warrant a replacement, but just in case my stupidity strikes again, perhaps many more times, where can i get replacement parts for my powerbook? 15" al rev B. and how hard/easy would it be to install it myself?

first of all if you wanna buy casing parts to fix a dent, and you can even find the case, you're gonna spend a few hundred bucks. Second, is the dent on the top case, or the bottom case? Top case aint so bad, bottom case, well that's a 1-2 hour repair (at least) with an experienced tech.

it's a tiny dent. basically one of the corners have a bit of it bulging out as a result of the corner being impacted in. i found the part, but it'll cost me 229USD minimum, not mentioning shipping and taxes. i don't think it's worth replacing just yet. and yes, it is the bottom case. can't i just take a small rubber mallet and bang it slowly in place? lol. i guess not.

Actually, since it's aluminum you COULD do that but I wouldn't recommend doing that while said piece of metal is attatched to the powerbook. BAD idea for the inside components, especially if you make a small mistake in your aim

I used to do that whenever I accidentally dented my aluminum PC case though - lotsa fun and character into that

It's a dent. If you are thinking about spending money to fix it or even worse mallet it back, you need to go to a psychiatrist for OCD issues.

Your original "**** happens" attitude is perfect. Stick with that.

heheh. trust me, i have much better things to spend 300$ on. but knowing that i CAN fix it if i want to, or when i want to (this is about money), will make me feel better. i'm just humoring myself. i'm not even gonna try to fix it. the dent is small enough that it's a non-issue.

I just put my first dent into my AlBook. It's to the left of the trackpad, almost to the left edge of my PB. I dropped one of those wooden bendy art dolls onto it. Luckily the damage is only cosmetic, the PB still runs like a champ.

They should just cover the next PowerBooks in that pick-up truck bedliner spray.

Sorry to hear about that. I dropped mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty bad. I guess it just adds character. Good thing nothing was hurt performance wise though

I got a new powerbook about 4 months ago. Within the first week I had similar warping above the slot drive. It freaked me out so I sent it back and got a replacment.I think it was the result of the powerbook overheating. My new pb hasn't warped anywhere. If the warping isn't your fault I'd send the pb back to Apple.

LOL you must be a perfectionist (maybe professed obsessed mac addict like me) to be bothered by a dent

These things dent crazy easy... haha you should see my 12 inch. I have a kinda wave thing going on with the bottom part on the right hand side. And you have to get used to opening my clasp because there's a big wow out above it haha...
