I was in the same process as you are a few years ago. It was the Mac OS X which persuades me to get my iMac DV 500, then I got iBook 500, and now I am using 15" Powerbook G4 1.25 GHz, not to mention two iPods (first and third generations). Apple products sucks you in, and your taste becomes more and more expensive. No regret, though.

Subscribe you some magazines to read, such as MacWorld or MacAddict. Personally, I like MacWorld better, but it depends on each person.

Get youself some books to read, such as David Pogue's Missing Manual for Mac OS X Panther.

One upside for me is that I am working a Mac project for one company (I am typically working on the Windows software projects), so all my investments in the past finally pays off.

You made the right choice. IMO, the iBook is more durable and better looking than the PowerBook G4. Just look at my username (swichd) and you'll see that I swiched to Mac and never looked back!
