I know this could go in the software section, however, I thought it more appropriate to ask the pros right here.
So, my wife is finally letting me get my iBook.
I started looking for software that I should have for it, and decided to come here and ask y'all which software do I just have to have on it
Here is one that I think everyone should have on their; it is called SideTrack.
It allows you to fully customize specific areas of your iBook/Powerbook track pad for things like tapping, scrolling... stuff like that. You can get it here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12800
Thanks,

Definitely pick up xwepgen if you've got an Airport card. The reason for this is laid out on the page but in short, it lets you connect to WEP protected access points without needing a long WEP key. Also grab MacStumbler for finding WiFi networks while you're out and about. An open access point with iTunes or iChat can make you some new friends (or enemies).

MacMAME.
If you're going to be burning any CDs of any complexity I recommend Toast. But Mac OS X's built-in CD burning stuff is cool too.
If you work with images at all you need GraphicConverter.

MenuMeters and SlimBatteryMonitor are good too, as well as KisMAC for war driving.

Thanks for the input feller's! These are great tools. Where I live here in Oregon there are a lot of "leaky" wireless networks so when I am in town, I pretty much can get free broadband internet, its so rad
I already have Toast, graphic converter, and many other tools like this. I am a graphic designer, so I have tons of graphic software. I was wondering about tools that are specific to laptops / iBooks.
I will be checking in on this thread to see if there have been any more must-have additions.
Cheers,

LaunchBar - couldn't live without it - opens apps, docs, files with a few quick keystrokes.

I had looked into this, however, with Tiger, launchbar will sort of be unnecessary.
Thanks,

Well you can either download launchbar for free and use it till Tiger comes out, or have to live without it (which sucks.)
I don't see why you wouldn't download it.
