Should I call Apple about this?

I just got my new Powerbook AL 15" 1.5 Gig and am extremely happy with it.

No dead pixels, screen or case defects etc.

However...when I plug my PB in the past couple of days, the charge indicator in the menu bar never climbs above 96%! It did 4 or 5 days ago.
Does anyone know if running your Powerbook plugged in most of the time is bad for your battery instead of running of the battery most of the time? I think I read somewhere that if you're going to run it plugged in most of thje time that you're supposed to take the battery out. Does anyone have any experiences that support or disprove that statement?

All relevent experiences or links welcome.

Thanks!

My Indicator on my previous 12" never seemed to go past 97% but my battery life was excellent, my views on battery life are different than others though. I never deem a batter bad unless I get unacceptable length of charge... Indications can be false readings in my personal experience.

This is intended by Apple. They do not want quick charge cycle (me probably wrong on terminology and spelling) on the battery since that is bad. So, when you connect the charger to the powerbook, it does not charge if you battery has more than 95% of charge. So this is a normal behavior.

every so often (especially when you first get it) you need to calibrate the battery - even then the battery display never seems to go to 100%

Also as someone said earlier it doesn't charge as the battery naturally decays above 95% (otherwise the battery's internal chip would start to only see 5% of the capacity)

My newer 12in 1.33 Powerbook never gets all the way to 100%, my roomies older 12in never gets above 96%. Doesn't appear to be that big of a deal.

mine hits 100, but because sleep slowly drains power (i sleep it off the cord) it drops below 100
