Don't know if this is possible, but I've heard that I could buy an iBook 700 logic board for my iBook 500 so I could get quartz extreme and a 100 MHz FSB. Has anyone tried this? If so, can you tell me how it worked out?

The question is, if you can buy a 700 logic board to upgrade your 500, is it worth the price? Logic board swaps have almost always been cost prohibitive.

I tried to get this exact same info from the companies that do this kind of stuff but never got a response. I've never actually tried it, though.

The thing is, you will likely lose the exchange pricing on the logic board by the fact that you don't have an identical board.

It may be more effective to just buy one of the models you are thinking about.
