Maybe i'm over-cautious but just don't wanna harm my PB, so I'd better ask.

To cool down my PB a little when I do CPU-intensive stuff I've positioned a room fan (you know one of those on a stand you get at any shopping mall) and have it directly blowing on my PB (about 1 meter distance).

My fingers go numb, but who cares - my CPU usage drops around 10º celsius!

Is there any concern to have a fan permanently blowing on the PB?

I don't see a problem with it... it's blowing the hot air away from (or cool air towards) the PB, right?

Actually, the only reason I can see for not doing this is the noise from the room fan. But it shouldn't hurt the PB at all... unless you drop the fan on the PB, of course.

thought so... yeah, it's blowing the hot air away from the laptop, so the cpu temp runs really nice and cool!

okay, gonna put the fan on level 3 now to check improvements!

so, where are my gloves now?

What about just raising the PB a little so air circulates underneath? Or something like an iCurve? I get steadily lower temps when on the iCurve then when I have it on my lap.
But a fan can be good. I'd just aim it so if there's any dust or hairs or fur if you have pets, that they blow away from the PB rather than directly toward it.

I have a whisper quiet office fan that I keep on my 12" (even on an iCurve) when I do processor intensive stuff. Although I do this cuz my PB heats up pretty hot when in clamshell mode.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
