ok, this item was described in this article: http://www.macnn.com/news/26464

here's the link: http://www.coxion.fi/eng/tuotteet/wbs10.html

sorry to be so slow but can someone tell me what this does in plain English? What does this connect you TO? Is it a tool to dial up your existing ISP? What kind of speeds does it offer (if I'm understanding it correctly) in relation to other kinds of services. Or is it a tool to dial up, say, my cell phone company's data service. Or both. Or neither for that matter.

Thank you for your patience in answering my undoubtably obvious question.

It uses cell phone networks to get you on the internet. And it also seems to let you make voice calls. You'll need a data plan on your cellular service to use this.

It is triband GSM which allows you to use it around the world, but will not work with Verizon or Sprint (as they use different techonology)

IIRC, GPRS maxes out at 172kb/s ? But in reality you'll probably get 56kb/s speeds.
