I went last year to buy a 1GHz 12" Powerbook. When I got to the Apple store, 2 things made me leave with a 15" Powerbook.
1. 12" had 32MB video, I use an external monitor often, so I need 64MB video to get 32MB of Quartz Extreme acceleration on both screens.
2. resolution aside, the 12" screen was just dim and kinda dingy looking compared to the brighter 15" screen.
----
Now, I want to sell my perfect 15" and buy a 12". It's just the size, I'd love to have a very small notebook.
1. Is the nVidia 64MB video card worth a damn in the 12"? I don't play games on my macs, but do use Cinema 4d XL7 sometimes, which uses OpenGL. I have a dual G5 for heavy 3d work, but will I be able to open somewhat complex models on the 12"?
2. Is the screen any better than the previous generation? By better I just mean more contrast and a brighter background.
Thanx....

1. Nvidia GPU is the same with double the VRAM so you'd be able to span lots better, not that I can't with my Rev B but it'll be smoother for video and expose. It should handle what you want, although your G5 will blow it outta the water.
2. People mention it being better but there's also a people saying that Apple is releasing these PB with two different LCD's. Some say the screen is brighter, some say the screen is the same, only one way to find out I guess. For the most part though, people have mentioned the screen to be brighter.
If you could wait, then I advise you to do so seeing how a revision seems to be right around the corner (2-3 months tops). Who knows, maybe Apple announces a G5 PB the way they did the iMac by then (highly doubtful). I love my Rev B and only wish I could get the Rev C with faster bus better GPU and larger/faster HD, but there will always be a faster PB and this one seems to be doing the job just fine.
