Tech made my beloved PB WORSE!!!!!!!

But I had an issue with my brand new 15" albook a few weeks ago. It was some minor cosmetic damage, but I wan'ted it fixed seeing it came out of the box that way. A local AASP ordered the part and I took it in yesterday to get serviced, he had to replace the lcd rear fasia (the lid with the apple cut out), and the plastic molding that runs around the seam. I was studying in the waiting area while the technician did the repair. After being there for an hour and a half I got kind of ansty, but just continued to be patient (he told me a half hour tops). The tech then came out and pointed out to me that he couldn't get it to clip in. The damage that a brought it in for was just some pry marks that must have incurred during manufacturing, and the same process that the tech ran in to. The pry marks are much worse now, and the aluminum bezel around the display on the left and right are 1/4 inch separated. I was so mad, I wish he would have elft it alone if he couldn't fix it. He is ordering the whole assembly, display already in its housing with hinge. Does anybody know if this is an easy job? I am worried that my machine is in the hands of incompetent. Although if anybody can tell me that the job he was trying to do is difficult, I can understand and it will put my mind at ease. It just seems pretty straight forward. Also I would be interested to see the take apart to remove the display and hinges if anyone has a link. I have done some searching but can't find.

What's up with pry marks on people's PBs? This is the 3rd I've heard. I would call apple and return it.

I work at a AASP and also am the lead tech that does all the laptop repairs. The thing you are talking about requires to basically to remove everything in the computer and then you can get to the back of the display. After that the service mannual has about 15 pages describing how to take it off and then how to put it back on properly... It is not easy, trust me.
However, I have done it before and although it was hard I did it right, and the other tech should have been able to also. So you are in the right, but bear with him as it might be his first time and apple laptop repair is a pain in the ass (especially ibooks and the new AlBooks).

I've heard about these pry marks too. Maybe the display housing tolerances aren't strict enough so it's hard to get it all to fit together nicely.
If the people in the factory, who make these everyday, had problems putting yours together then I'm not surprised the tech guy did too.
Although it's a bigger job to replace the entire display you're guaranteed to get a good replacement and the tech may have better luck with it, rather than having to try to fix a problem with the manufacture and initial assembly he can swap the whole thing (he's likely to have done that before, or at least taken a PB apart anyway).
I would let him do it, you should get a perfect PB, and quickly, this way. At worst he will mess up and Apple will have to fix it.
If you're that worried talk to him, or someone at the store, to ask about how experienced their techs are with this repair (be friendly though).
