I have sustained a small dent on my PB, just above the CD slot (such that the foam gate is not fully sealed). Is there any way to get rid of it? I was thinking of tapping it at the sides with a small hammer, but am worried that might do more damage. Would strong magnet have any effect?

I have the exact same problem. I just tripped over the power cord, it fell off the icurve off the desk, and onto the floor and now I have 3 bulges (i'm flipping out right now since it is less than a week old). I would also like to know if there is any way to tap it out. Also, if I get safeware, would they fix it?

A strong magnet? Are you daft!? Don't go anywhere near that thing with a small magnet, otherwise a dent will be the least of your worries.

In other news today, My superdrive is now crazy loud, and the laser is moving back and forth a lot. I hope this is a result of the fall and not of the superdrive on its own. GOD, it hasn't even been a week yet, what did I do to deserve this? The good news is that i'll get it fixed through AMEX, hopefully within a week.

I have two dents... one from when I dropped it (in the bag, so other than the back corner, it's fine) and once when a hockey puck fell on the closed lid. Everything still works fine, however.

Fixed the dents in my PB sides by removing the back cover, peeling off the liner and softly massaging (for lack of a better term) the sides against a straight edge. Reglued the liner and popped 'er back on.....Looks like new!
Have to be very careful though....use a straight edge to prevent any further crumpling when you apply force to the bowed out part. ........PS Have you guys ever used a magnet? try sticking it to non iron metals....works like a rock.

UPDATE:
so, the amex thing worked out, I sent them a copy of a cancelled reciept(estimate) with bottom panel, superdrive, and tier 2 labor for the dents that happened to my baby in january. They just credited my account for the amount on the reciept.

However, now that there is an 8X superdrive, can I get that put into my Rev C powerbook?

"Buying insurance after you damage something and then filing a claim for that damage" is much more easily stated as what it is:

Fraud.
