Can anyone recommend a way to lesson the amount of wires sticking out of the side of my Powerbook? Is there a dock for a 17"? I have considered the Airport Express, but before I get one are there any other suggestions?

Bluetooth external keyboard and mouse ... Airport Extreme/Express, that way you'd only need the Power Supply cable ...

What kind of devices that you plan to attach to your PB?

Besides the regular wireless mouse, keyboard, airport cards, there are not many devices with wireless options.

This is my suggestion,

1) If you plan to have external hard drives and DVD writer, you can buy a multi-bay external enclosure. In that way, you will only need one wire instead of two wires or more.

2) Utilize your PC-Card slot for flash memory card readers (CF, SD or MS).

Speaker line, USB printer line, phone line and power line, and that's only on one side. Guess I'll buy the Airport Express. I can cut it down to only a power line if I get broadband wireless. Or perhaps spring for Airport base station. Big bucks though. Any other cheaper options besides Airport base station for a regular phone (dial up) line? How much do you guys pay for DSL/Broadband etc, per month? I pay about $23/month for dial up. If I can get broad band with my cable company I can kill the phone line, since I have a mobile phone. Maybe I'll check into that solution. Then I guess Airport express will take care of the wireless part?

Why not use the battery and take off the power cord? Use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse if needed and AirPort for the rest. 0 wires.

This brings up a good question.

I know Airport Express can stream the music to the external speakers from iTunes.

Can it also stream the sound from other applications or OS wireless to external speakers?

If so, you got a wireless speaker solution.

Just a matter of time before someone creates a rendezvous-based app that does that.

I don't think the phone line is a rip off. This is my phone bill per month. The ISP costs about $10. That's about $30 per month. I will look into a braodband cable solution or some other way if you have any ideas. Just saying it is a rip off is not helping. I don't really need this phone line since I have a mobile phone. Yes, I already have a bluetooth mouse. Thanks for all of the replies. Gee, I took it for granted AIrport Express will not only send sound from iTunes, but sounds from games, Quicktime, DVD movies and all. You mean it does not do that???

as of now, aE ONLY streams itunes (which it does quite nicely).
i still have a usb cable for my audio/midi interface, and the ac cord, but:

bluetooth mouse, bt sync for my palm, aE for printing, surfing, itunes...

nice!

now waiting for wireless firewire!

Only streams iTunes? I thought you could do wireless printing with it as well?

Yes, you can do wireless printing through USB port. But for audio, AE only supports iTunes streaming, not other application or system sound.

Unless someone comes up with a genius way to redirect sound to the wireless print port.
