Has anyone installed a Seagate Momentus 100 Gb drive in a Pbook?

Seagate ST9100823A
100GB capacity
5400 RPM
ATA-5 standard interface
9.5mm high (same as standard fujitsu drive in TiBook)
5 Year Seagate Warranty

press release:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040929/sfw016_1.html

Sounds like the perfect HD upgrade, especially that, since I consider reliability more important than speed, the Seagate ATA V drives have achieved very high reliability ratings at http://storagrereview.com (you must establish an account (free) to view the reliability survey).

BTW, I can't find it in stock anywhere online, except in UK & AU.

I just got the 40gig version of this drive at Comp-Usa and they said they could order the 100gig and get it in a few days.
I don't know if I believe them but its worth a try.

The 40 gig is nice, quieter than the IBM I had in there.

I dont even want to know how much that thing is. Last I looked the 100GB 4200 drives were between 200 and 300 dollars.

Why not get a firewire 400 or even 800 external drive. They are just as fast if not faster. I wanted to max out the speed of my internal drive, then worry about additional space after that with peripheral drives.
15" 1.33ghz Al Powerbook w/1GB RAM, 64mb ATI VRAM
60GB 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 HD
20GB 4G iPod w/click wheel

>>I'd prefer to have the speed & storage inside. I'm on the third stock fujitsu 60 Gb (previous defects replaced by Apple) and it's starting to act weird.

I gave up waiting for this to ship, ended up purchasing a 7200 rpm 60 GB internal replacement drive, plus an external 200 GB HD, PLUS a 16x external FW DVD-RW dual layer burner -- for about the price of what I expect the 100 GB drive would have run when it's available.

Sounds like just the thing for my 17" Powerbook. The old internal 80 gig 4200 RPM has an external case waiting for it right now. Guess I will begin lurking the HD web stores.

Sekker, could you share the price & source for the 100 Gb you had on order? Thanks.
