I received my brand new 15" powerbook in the middle of September, it came out of the box with some minor cosmetic issues. Apple gave me the option of getting a DOA replacement which would leave me approximately 10 days w/o a computer (I had already ebayed my 12"), or repair the unit by sending it to them with a 7-10 day turn around time, or getting it repaired at a local AASP leaving me without a computer for less then a day. I chose the AASP, just for the reason that my time w/o a computer is a big issue for me. I think this is the worst decision I could have ever made. The AASP called me and told me the part was in.. (this is repetitive for active forum readers), he screwed it up even worse when trying to repair. Told me he would make it like new and ordered a new LCD, hinge, bezel, and lid. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks since he ordered these parts. I have called twice, once after one week, and once at the second. "The part is out of stock from apple." I am starting to feel like I am getting dicked around, and that I am going to be stuck with a month old laptop that is pretty beat at the display bezel (pry marks, and 1/4" separation on the left side). I spoke with technical support at apple today, and they advised me to wait it out, it will come. I then spoke with Customer relations, and they fed me a similar answer? Do you guys think I am being dicked around? Or am I being impatient? If you think I am getting beat on by apple please advise me on how to get somewhere with them. ...If I had originally know what a hassle this was going to be, I definately would have done a DOA replacement that turn around time would have been much better than me driving to the AASP four times, hounding over the phone about the status of my parts, and on the phone with apple, and getting nowhere but shitty hold musc!
When I talk to people from apple they are always asking me which machine I am calling about. I would figure a little customer loyalty would show considering they have 5 new systems listed at my phone number from the past 4 years..... Shame Shame Shame...

Aren't you having an issue with your AASP? If you suspect he is dicking you around, how is Apple supposed to fix that/ i presume you mean, "is Apple mistreating me in the event that it's because of late parts that my machine is not repaired"?

Not ordering an immediate replacement may have been a mistake on your part, but a little patience on my part paid off when my 1 Ghz 17" had an intermittant screen problem. I ended up with a 1.5 upgraded 17" replacement, but it took two or three weeks. They even let me use my old 1 Ghz till it arrived. Too bad you did not choose the replacement. With a little luck you may have even gotten one with no dead pixels; mine is flawless. I feel for ya man, but no, they are not messing with you. Just keep on them with a cool head; they usually come thru. And yes, I have received a 15" titanium with scratches and a broken USB port but they eventually got the 15" right also...after 5 trips back to service. The point is they are trying and eventually they will get it done right.
Tip to all:
NEVER have your unit serviced over the phone when you have the option of taking the laptop to an Apple store. They can record the exterior condition before sending it in for one thing. They can more easily determine the solution since the laptop is in front of them. They might even be able to correct the problem while you are there.

Apple is not holding its end of the bargin no matter which way you look at it. They admitted they they have a shortage of the parts.... I am just angry with the AASP for making it worse, but thats over. Regardless, no offense but they obviously know of the shortage of the parts that I need for my machine, with all the the repairs they are doing for the 15"s with whte spot issues, you would figure they would have advised me to do a doa, instead of relishing repairs/aasp.
