Just now, when I woke my 12" PB (DVI) from sleep, my desktop background was suddenly covered in weird pattern and colors, instead of my usual desktop pic. When I would move a window over the spots on the desktop wherever this pattern occurs, it would go away, and the area on the screen would return to normal. I took a picture of my screen, and you can still see in the lower left hand corner that some of the "un-refreshed" areas are still there. This only happened to me once before. Has this happened to you guys? Could there be something wrong with my video card, or logic board, or is this an occasional glitch?

This happened to me once on my 12" Rev B PB. I haven't had a problem since, so I would assume that it is just a glitch.

If you can take a picture of it (as you did) then it's stored in the framebuffer, as opposed to it being something wrong with the connection to the LCD.

Probably a VRAM glitch. Nothing to worry about.

Run the Apple Hardware Test that came with the machine. That will tell you whether it's an actual problem or not.

My suspicion is that it's probably a minor driver issue, since it occurred when you woke the machine from sleep.

Thanks for your replies.

I don't have my Apple Hardware Test CD with me, but I did run the TechTool Pro 4 test for Video Memory, and the machine passed that test. Was that the correct test to run?

I don't think it's a hardware issue. I had a similar problem some time ago. I ran all the usual maintenance stuff (using OnyX) and that fixed it.
