I installed a little script on my PowerBook that allows me to change sound sources and outputs. I unistalled it soon afterwards but now whenever I close the PowerBook lid, the mic starts to feedback.
I've tried turning the sound input down and a number of different things in the sound prefs pane. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas what might be the problem?
Turning down the volume on your Powerbook or any other device is the usual solution for feed back, not sound input. But I suppose you have tried that. Do you have an exterior mike? It must be as far from your Powerbook as possible. You are not giving much info as to mike devices and inputs. Nor did you give the script.
I don't have any external mics plugged in. I've tried turning down the volume but it doesn't help. The gap between the screen and the mic is too small for it not to feed back. Besides, that can't be the problem since it has always worked before even with the volume on full.
In case anyone else has the same problem, it seems like the script I installed set the audio hardware to playthrough. You need to go into Audio Midi setup and at the bottom of the Audio page, uncheck the playthrough checkbox.
