Hi all

Is it just me or are there others out there frustrated by the way that you can only get the superdrive and the 1.33 G4 if you want a 14" screen..

I love my old 12" G3 500 iBook and was thinking of upgrading to something abit newer or indeed new and would love to have the superdrive but don't want a 14" screen to go along with it...

I know the speed difference isn't much but still frustrates me...

Thanks guys

Darren

i am not quite sure what apple isn't providing this option on the 12" iBook. I suspect it is to encourage people to spend a little more money on the 14" iBook.

It's rather simple. If the 12" iBook included a Superdrive and 1.33Ghz G4, it would COMPLETELY cannibalize sales of the 12" PB. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

It's not just you. I actually got very pissed that there ain't even no BTO option available. I need a DVD burner and would love to get a SuperDrive - I do however not want a 14" iBook. The point is that if I want a SuperDrive and 12" laptop I'd have to go for the 70% more expensive PowerBook - and honestly, that blows.

First off, calm down. My post in question wasn't attacking anyone and related directly to the topic of discussion.

The common expression that appeared in my post wasn't used to offend anyone, rather, it was there to convey my point. I'm sure no one was actually offended, other than maybe you.

It's pathetic letting little things like this bother you, so just relax!

Peace,
Noah

Oh look a monkey that can read medical books and type, I thought I had seen everything but this takes the cake

now really did you wake up on a thorn bush or you didn’t have your morning coffee yet, is it really necessary to be a jerk for no reason? Noah’s argument is 100% legit and my personal opinion is dead on. If your going to offer all the features of the high end product in the low end, why have the high end at all?

Uhh, all of the features aren't offered. And the high end is where the money is.

Though I agree about that poster being an ass.

Thats what I ment, if they where offered in the lowend, there wouldnt be a point to a high end. That poster was a real ass, gotta stick up for whats right or else this place will go to the dogs, Macnn is good because there arnt alot of ppl like him here. But personally I do with the superdrive was a option in the lowend ibooks, its whats making my choice on ibook or powerbook harder.

I'd say the PB12 is the weak one of the bunch right now, with the 15 and 17 offering more and the iBooks catching up in performance while dropping prices.

i know that the powerbooks are better and highend and the iBooks are low end... if u read wot i said.. i was on about why i'd have to have a 14" screen just to get the superdrive and the little extra speed bump!!!

I know what you meen sometimes posts dont turn out the way we hope but hey what ever any how I understand the frustration. But Honestly it seems like a marketing scheme the more mony they make the less there overall product will be and the faster they can devlop new ones. I hate it but hey whatever they have to do to make money. For the others that have to bicker and wine man up and relax! It is just a forum to HELP.
Bless those that sacrifice for us all.

yeah, it's about money and marketing. i don't think they want to cater people to a powerbook or 14" ibook. they do however want to cater people to giving them a higher profit margin. i think that it should be a BTO option. I mean, give some of us an option.
