They have the same screen. As notebook displays, both are very good.

Concur with above, but have to say as notebook displays, they are barely adequate.

I also concur with the above. Notebook displays don't compare to desktop LCD displays, especially Apple's Cinema Displays.

I concur. The 12" displays have a slight yellow/brown tint, narrow viewing angle and are much less bright than more expensive alternatives. The screens are still adequate, but a weak point for the iBooks and the 12" PB.
They really need to be updated, especially the more pricey 12" PB. That said, most users won't notice until they place the 12"s side by side with a 15" or 17". I managed fine with my G4 800 iBook, but was a bit disappointed about the screen quality.
Love my new 15"!

Same panel in both, but they are pretty bad displays. Horrible viewing angles, not very bright and they blur REALLY bad.

I agree. The screen on my new PB 12 incher is the same as my wife's new iBook G4 and both are significantly inferior to my old iBook 500's display. The default color sync profiles are horrible and give them a washed out brown cast. Recalibrating until the screen is brighter and better colored and contrasted makes a huge difference.

I have to agree with all the comments in this thread. The 12" display used in the 12" iBook and 12" PB are identical. Both displays suffer from a very limited viewing angle and the overall quality of the display is barely average. For a notebook display, I am personally pleased with the brightness of this panel. While not as bright as some panels out there, I find the brightness level to be just right.
You wont grind your teeth in frustration over the display, but you will notice a very noticeably quality difference between the 12" vs 15" & 17". The latter displays are simply stunning for a notebook. I purchased the 12" PB last summer, and while the display has been a dissapointment, the notebook itself has rocked big time and I have no regrets in purchasing this model. My advice would be to go to an Apple store and see one for yourself to determine if the screen is acceptable or not.

Definitely the iBook's weakest hardware part. Barely adequate, as a description, is very accurate.
If you compare the iBook to similar windows-based 12" laptops, like the Averatec 12" models, you'll be astounted at how poor the iBook screen is. It's really quite odd because Averatec notebooks are quite low-end for laptops.
However, I wonder if the iBook's poor screen is much related to its battery life.
I just wish I could run Windows natively on my iBook because I mainly bought it for taking notes at school, and for that purpose it is has no equal in the PC world. :/

Is it possible for you to share the calibrated color profile? i just got my ibook 12" today and i'm quite disappointed by the lcd. i tried to calibrate but i just can't get it right (either too brown or too purple).

The screen on my 12" ibook looks pretty good to me. I don't have much to compare it to, except for a few 17" & 19" CRTs. It's sharp and the color seems pretty good. Maybe I just have low standards.

I am pretty sure these rough and quick profiles I banged out aren't that great but since sharing is the rule... I usually take a bit longer, but life has been busy. I dropped them into my downloads if anyone wants them.
#2 is a bit blue compared to the other.
They are the two labeled Color LCD...
Look in http://slicedapple.ath.cx/downloads/
