Hi,

I'm looking for a powerbook raiser for my 17in G4 Albook. Any suggestions? Do they work well? Does Apple retail stores carry them?

Thanks!

For travelling, get the RoadTools Traveller's CoolPad or RoadTools Podium CoolPad.

iCurve is nice but can't put it into the laptop bag.

I have both of the Road Tools CoolPads. How well do they work with the 17" PowerBook though?

I have a Traveller from my iBook days and it works well enough. Guess it depends on what you want the raiser for. If it's for home and a desk environment, you can't beat an iCurve.
If you plan on doing a lot of travelling with it, then the Traveller is a workable option.

i like the roadtools coolpad because it keeps the temperature down and gives you a better angle for typing.

the icurve looks cool but i think is a better choice if you're going to use an external keyboard.

The iCurve is definitely nice if you use it with an external keyboard.

However, many computer desks have a built-in keyboard tray which negates the iCurve's feature to slip a keyboard underneath.

If you already have a keyboard tray on your desk, just get the RoadTools CoolPad just to elevate the PB off the desk.

I also have the iLap which is made from anodized aluminum. It comes in contact with the bottom of the laptop and acts as a heat sink. Never gets barbeque hot anymore. The bonus feature of the iLap is that it is ergonomically designed for both lap use as well as desk use.
