Is standard Apple RAM ECC or non-ECC? I know that Crucial RAM is non-ECC, so I'm wondering if it's bad to go with Crucial...

All Mac (and thus PC) RAM is non-ECC. Home computers have been using non-ECC RAM for over 10 years now.

Servers (Mac and PC) use ECC.
