Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me if there would be much differences between the 12" Al PowerBook and the Ti 867Mhz PowerBook ?

The reason i am asking is because i have the chance to swap my 17" iMac 1Ghz for a 867Mhz Al or Ti book. Both PB's have combo drives but i don't know the speed differences between the two models.

Do you guys think this would be a fair trade and which PowerBook would you choose Al or Ti ?

Or should i just sell my iMac and go ahead and buy a 15" Al ?

Advice needed....

(both PB's are in excellent condition)

the 15" TiBook will be faster than the 12" AlBook by a fair amount, probably about 20% overall.
It is also worth significantly more because of the screen.

i dont know how you could gauge speed without knowing which alBook this is...
but, speed should be comparable.

it's the other specs worth weighing out, size...

overall, what will you be happier with; more portable or larger screen??

I personally like the 12" but the 15" is more computer. The only thing the 12" has going for it other than portability is that the Airport Extreme reception on the 12" kills the 15" standard Airport reception because of the different metals used. If "I" wanted one of the two I'd get the 12", if a smarter person was going to choose they'd get the 15", both are great PB's.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

I was going by the subject heading which states it is an 867 MHz (Rev A) 12" Powerbook. Apologies to the poster if this is not the case -- the Rev B would be roughly the same speed as the TiBook (if not a bit faster) and the Rev C should be a significant improvement.

Hm, the 12 inch 867 MHz was the rev a which gets really hot and sometimes wobbled on flat surfaces.

I personally waited for the Rev b to avoid these problems.
