1) What does this have to do with portables?

2) Why would anyone in this day and age be investigating dialup vs. broadband (unless you are out in the boonies)?

That being said, try Earthlink.

I'd rather get DSL service from Verizon, or Yahoo, or SBC myself.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

recently converted my father from Earthlink dialup to Copper.net - he is quite pleased with the service, lower price than earthlink and with few dropped connections... Current promotion offers first three months for $1...
The high speed service while an extra $5 does offer a significant boost over the basic connection service (for several sites and connections - tested this while traveling through the midwest)... Speed is more or less comparable to Earthlink - however subjectively my father believes that copper.net is faster...
Cheers...

other world computing is a cheap, nationwide, reliable, mac oriented provider. They offer a plan with an optional accelerator program. Plus you get a an address @fastermac.net. Check it out at http://www.fastermac.net/

I use mindspring (Earthlink) for my ISP and have their broadband service.... it allows me to use dialup when traveling and if hotel dosn't have highspeed access.

Best of both worlds. Alows me to check in with wife by using iSight when hotel has broadband.
