Hi

My Pismo has been experimenting some problems...

One day, suddenly while powering up, 4 beeps where played indicaiting no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block).

After a long work around it is possible to start the computer after pressing the reset button and pushing the CPU card as hard as possible "nearly" each time that the laptop was switch off for a long time (5 hours).

Once started, the computer can be used with out problems and normal operation. CPU speed (G3@500 MHz) is normal, memory is recognised, restarting is possible without pushing the CPU Card and restarting holds time and date. Time and date aren't hold "only" when pressing reset button.

What should I do to solve the problem? Change all the motherboard, CPU card, sound card, etc as stated in some forums? Pressing the CPU card was done as hard as possible...

Any proposition, suggestion, idea, comment?

Thank you very much
Best Regards
Darkmatter

It sounds pretty bad to me, like your processor is going bad. I would think about cashing the Pismo in and looking at a new machine.

Otherwise, you might want to try a processor replacement, like one of the upgrade modules, to see if that wouldn't bring your baby back to life. You can always return the upgrade if it doesn't work . . .
