Sometimes it pops back up a second or two later.
If I push really hard on the page down button, it will go away.
but it'll pop back up. is the keyboard not seated correctly?
the flex is because the bottom part of the keyboard (the white thing) in the right bottom corner is not all the way down and has some room between where it's supposed to be and where it is. should I bring this in?

I've had two keyboards replaced on my 15" 1Ghz Al because of this problem. A few days after I purchased the machine, the upper left corner of the keyboard started to peel up. I had the keyboard replaced (under warranty, of course), and the Apple Tech managed to damage the case in the process -- something he was kind enough to bring to my attention when I picked the machine up. The tech also told me that the keyboards are fastened down by a bunch of screws and adhesive. The adhesive is to keep the keyboard perfectly flat. He went on to tell me that even if all of the adhesive were to fail, the keyboard would stay attached, and relatively flat.
A couple of months later, after getting the case replaced, the same problem developed. After another keyboard replacement, everything was fine for about a week, when keyboard number three began to peel up in the area of the arrow keys. This time the keyboard also appears to have a few 'mushy' spots where it seems like it's bubbling up just slightly.
I decided to call customer service, beause I was getting a little frustrated with the lame keyboards. The rep said that since it was a cosmetic issue, it didn't warrant a new machine, despite how many times the problem occurred.
I've pretty much given up any hope of getting a decent keyboard on this machine. It's a really subtle problem, but it's annyoing as hell, and every other PowerBook I've typed on feels much more solid than mine.
I would suggest taking it in for repair -- at worst they'll fix it, and it'll come back with the same problem.

Very interesting topic. I actually want to buy a 12" Powerbook instead of a 12" iBook because the keyboard feels so much better. Do 12" PB users also have this problem? Can this also occur with an iBook?

I haven't heard of any 12"s affected by this problem, but I remember people complainng about loose keyboards on the Rev. A 17"s.
The iBook's won't have this issue, because the keyboard is fastened differently. I have an iBook G3 800, and the keyboard feels solid; it doesn't seem like it would warp, or anything like that.

I'm having the same issue with my 15 inch PowerBook and it really is annoying as hell. I can push it down and stays down for a couple of minutes but then it just pops back up. I must say I'm less than impressed with the keyboard on this thing. The keys are very badly alligned too. Backlight is cool and all, but my TiBook's keyboard was much much better.
I was wondering if there was any way to fix this at all without sending it in? I need my PowerBook every day so I can't afford to send it in. Is there an easy way of removing the keyboard and replacing the adhesive that wouldn't break the warranty?
