Thanks for the link marineosx. I've heard that the newer ibooks are a little "easier" to open up since the cd is slot loading. Anyone know the details in what manner?

The best instruction guide IMO, is the PBFixIt series available here. Besides new iBooks, they have guides for all Apple portables since the Wallstreet. These guides are very easy to follow even for an unexperienced user. Check it out.

Apple reseller here is quoting $120.00 for hard drive installation for the ibook... Also, they said that since their techs were in Cali last week for training, they have a backlog and it'll take at least a week in the shop. Looks like I'll go the pbfixit route. I'm still looking for some actual photos and guides of disassembling the latest ibook revisions with slot loading cd. I know that may be non-existent due to the applecare warranty, but I'm sure there are many who've already switched in faster hard drives.

The very first link is a slot loading iBook. It also has pictures as well. At least that is what I think you are looking for? Sorry if I am wrong. I am not sure if you have looked at it or not.
