Hey Guys! I need some major help...I purchased a 12" 1.25ghz iBook a couple weeks ago and I would love to bump up the ram. I'd love to get a gig, but I might have to settle for 512 for now. My question is, could you guys help me figure out exactly which type of ram I need for my new iBook. Here are the stores I was looking at purchasing from:
www.kingstoncomputerplanet.com
www.com-depot.com
www.canadacomputers.com
www.tigerdirect.ca
I have no idea what brand to buy or exactly which type the iBook takes...there's so many. If you could post some links to exact pages of ram options that would be sooooo helpful! Or if there's any other Canadian suppliers you know of that are good, that would be awesome too!
Thanks so much!

go with newegg.com
you can get a 512MB for about $70-80 (in US dollars)
or a gig for about $150-180
i am not too sure on the prices but they are good.

Canadian ram is fine, but a 1GB US stick = 640mb Can. stick.

That's COLD! Besides, the exchange rate isn't that high.
Is there a reason for going with a Canadian supplier? Something like a cross-border tax or something?

*haha* That's funny but not as much as it used to be now that our dollar is .83 cents now, and climbing!
My reason for ordering in Canada is just to avoid border hassel...I just thought it would be easier but on second thought, the duty may not be that expensive (in comparison with the price difference). I purchased my iBook state-side and saved a couple hundred Canadian with the exchange. So perhaps I could do the same with the ram.

Get Other World Computing ram. Even with the GST and conversion their memory is cheaper and better quality than anything I've seen from Canada.
I have OWC ram in all of the macs here (15" Powerbook, iMac G5, and the same iBook model that you have) and it has worked with no problems. Macs have been pretty picky about the quality of memory you put in them, so I would save yourself the hassle and go with a quality name.
I've also heard that Crucial ram is really good, too, though I don't have any experience with it myself.
Here's the page with the ram that works with your system.

i would recommend apple ram if you can afford it, apple ram is better if just in powersaving and quality. the bottom line is you get what you pay for.
