Well I can vouch that the iMic works OK on my iBook, maybe not for audiophiles - depends on your hearing. You cannot record directly into iTunes, but you can use Garage Band (if you have it) or Sound studio, AudioX, Audiocorder and then import into iTunes.

ok cool, well i was debtaing imic cuz its a much cheaper alternative than an m--audio one. However I was wondering if it were possible to have both the input and output work simultaneously, cuz i noticed a switch there. i dont know. but thanks for the heads up.

The iMic should do the trick. I'm gonna get one myself for xmas since I need that for Amplitube - using my iBook as guitar amp really rocks

IIRC Solidage has one of these, you might wanna ask him what he'd suggest.

Why explaining when you can try the demo?
http://www.amplitube.com

It's also just US $100 standalone, also availble as VST plugin but a lot more expensive. It's quite simple and pretty cool.

I'm using the M-audio transit with my iBook which works very well. It came with Ableton Live and Propellerhead Reason.

I use the iMic for my Internet radio shows. The one thing that bothers me a bit is the latency due to the USB connection. Otherwise this little guy works as advertised.
