Hey, guys,
I'm have this problem (maybe not exactly a problem) for my ibook G4 800MHZ that I bought a year ago. Sometimes when I open the lid and wake up the ibook, i'll hear a click sound in the HD (I assume that's normal) and at the sametime a disfigured screen (the display just gets all noisy and the pictures all shifted aside a little). This only lasts for about a second and everything will go back to normal. The only thing is once in a while, after the noisy screen, some pixels on the desktop (but not in other programs) get messed up and become black. If I close the lid and let it sleep for a while and open the lid again, these bad pixels will more likely to disappear (but not always). Although these bad pixels are not a lot and don't bother me working on the ibook, I still wanna know if this is normal and if i should do something with it. Any idea? Thanks.

i have a very similar problem. If I put it to sleep or put the screen saver on and I wake the computer back up, the screen is sometimes a lighter shade/color than it should be. It's a simple fix (just go to the menu and reselect the setting) but its a big annoyance and i dont want this to turn into a bigger problem down the line.

any ideas on either one of our situations?

Sounds like the iBook logic board problem. Apple has a replacement program for eligible models. Check their website for more details: http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/

I got my ibook fixed! It surely is logic board problem. Although my ibook is not manufactured between the posted ranged, they still helped me replace the logic board. And everything took just 2 days. Great service. Thank you auggie!
