Hey All
I just got another 80gb drive for my Pismo, but this ones a Fujitsu 80gb drive. my other one was a Toshiba 80gb, 16mb cache drive.
When I formatted this one it formats to 70.3gb as usable space...
What are you getting when you format??? Seems kind of low...
If you have or had a Toshiba 80gb drive what were you getting when formatting that drive???
Thanks!!!
Brad

is there a guide to drive-swapping for the pismo?
I bought a 60g bus-powered external, but its not cutting it for iMovie work, so I want to put it inside the PB - hopefully it'll make for non-jumpy tranfer.
darndest thing is - when I was running Jag, and a (now dead) 5.25" external, iMovie *was* fast enough... can't figure it.

mine shows 74.4 available (it's the stock 4200 rpm version that shipped with the aluminum).

Hitachi 5400 rpm 80GB HD in a Pismo OS X 10.3.6 shows 74.41 GB after formatting.
Not sure why the external is jumpy. I suspect it's a 4200 rpm drive, I doubt being internal will make a big difference.
Replacing the HD is a Pismo is very easy. It's sits in a sled that is accessible under the keyboard. I'm sure someone has an officially document around here somewhere.
Here's the short list:
Ideally, put your HD in an external FW HD case, copy whatever you want over now. I usually clone the HD using CCC because I'm adding space with a new HD, or I'm replacing a defective HD.
Lift up the keyboard. I think it takes ~2 phillips head screws to open everything up, and 4 more to remove the HD from the sled (these are the hex-like screws, forget the formal name). Swap HDs. Reverse the process.
I think I've done it 4 times on my Pismo, Works great.
