I recently purchased a new battery for my 15" Al Powerbook from OWC. The battery does not have the ability to automatically put the computer into sleep mode. Is there a way (a script or something) to force the machine into sleep mode when the battery charge reaches a certain level?

I didn't realize this was a function of the battery (and that you could get one without!) but I imagine you could write a small app or applescript to periodically monitor the battery level and either remind you to put the computer to sleep or just try to sleep the computer if the charge were at or below a certain amount.

Are these type of batteries cheaper than the ones that provide sleep?

OWC had a weekend sale...it was $79 brand new. The item description stated it wouldn't put the system into sleep..not really a big deal, as it is primarily used for extending the power on long flights. i just thought i'd inquire. thx.
