What type of CD did you burn? Did you burn an audio CD or a data CD (just burned the files to the CD in their compressed format)? If it was a data CD, are your files in MP3 or AAC form? Many CD players can play MP3 data CDs, but most cannot play AAC data CDs.

I am using a music CDRW.

Are you saying if my car can't recognize AAC or MP3, then i can' t burn a disc that will play in my car?

Burning in iTunes should create a normal audio CD that will play on any CD player. Your problem may rest in the fact that you are using a CDRW. Not all audio cd players like CDRW's. Try a normal CD-R and see if that works.

iTunes' burning preferences will allow you to burn CDs that are in different formats.

If you burn in the Audio CD format, your car's CD player should be able to play it just fine. In this case iTunes is converting your compressed music files (whether they are MP3 or AAC) into a different, fairly universal format that is identical to what is on commercial CDs.

If you burn in a data CD format, iTunes simply burns the compressed AAC or MP3 files directly to the CD. That is, you will get a CD that has a bunch of MP3 or AAC files on it. Many modern CD players can play a CD of this type if it only has MP3 files on it. Your car's CD player may be older, and not capable of reading a CD that has only MP3s on it. If this is the case, you will have to burn your discs as Audio CDs.

[EDIT] And yes, as Strix said, some CD players don't like CD-RWs.

Totally wrong forum.

Most non-MP3 CD players cannot read CD-RW. Some recent models do, as do most models that play MP3.

Just ditch CD-RW and use blank CD-Rs. Considering how cheap they are, you can use it in the car and if it falls on the ground and gets scratched, you can just trash it and use another.
