thinking of getting a new hard drive for my pismo... because:

a) almost out of space (original 10GB drive)

b) it's over 4 yrs old (bought it used in fall of 2000)

what's a good RELIABLE hard drive that i can use in my pismo? something obviously larger than 10GB.... i realistically don't need much more than 40-60GB.... unless there are some 100+ GB drives that are super cheap....

The Best Buy Seagate 100 GB 5400 rpm HDs (box is labeled 7200 rpm) seems like a good deal right now, if you want a big drive.

Otherwise, the 7200 rpm 60 GB drives via Dell home business are good deals, run ~ $130.

Hey ucx

I'm running a Toshiba 80gb w/16mb cache on my Pismo. Haven't have any problems. Tried a Fujitsu 80gb, but returned it because it formatted every low compared to the Toshiba...

I'm going to a Toshiba 60gb, 7200rpm drive in my Pismo now. A friend of mine has one in his Pismo, Booting is much faster, program loading, and running is also faster.

Have a Great one!!!
