i got a white spot about the size of a dime smack in the middle of my screen... wtf, i thought this stuff only happened to the 15" models? Pissed because I've only had the powerbook for a month, and this screen has no dead pixels. Has this happened to any other 12"ers?

I've just noticed two small white spots on my 17"!

Looks like a trip to the Apple Store tomorrow.

Dunno about pixels as this thread refers to the infamous "white spots" that seem to result from uneven backlight illumination.

The Apple Store Genius Bar staff told me that if the white spots are near the center of the screen, Apple will replace the screen. If they are at the edges of the screen, then it's considered acceptable and Apple will not replace the screen.

I'm not sure, but does anyone think that producing PowerBooks in China has negatively affected quality?

You sure that isn't light shining through the Apple on the back of the screen? That's made me think there was a problem a few times.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Nope, because it happens in a dark room or when I cover the Apple logo with my hand. It looks like theres a fingerprint on the middle of my screen that can't be rubbed off. I noticed it when I was using Terminal with a black background and realized I couldn't wipe off the white spot... anyway when I get the time I'll take it to my university store or the Apple store. I called up Apple and they were already willing to have me send it in, the only question they asked was if I dropped it. It'd bad timing because I'm in the heart of finals and need my notebook.
