New guy here and confused about nomenclature vis-a-vis
portable Macs. My Mac is a PPC 1500C and assumed it was
a 'Powerbook' but after skimming topics I noticed that so far every machine dicussed seems to be more sophisticated and
powerful than mine in features [processor/HDs etc.]
Honestly, would I be better served on another site with my older
machine or can I find answers here without feeling like a dinosaur?

There is no Mac model at all with the name "1500C".

It should say right above or below the screen what model it is.

no need for namecalling you *******! Asking about a 1500c was non-sensical, and so Tooki couldn't really give you much of a reply. (And what kind of question was that originally? --you're asking whether we can help you without telling us what your problem is...)

A 1400c is a Powerbook. It's a powerbook that came out in 1996, which is quite some time ago in computer terms (same year as your 6400). You can read more about it here:

http://www.apple-history.com/noframe...amp;model=1400

It's an *old* machine. That said, feel free to ask your questions here - many of us have been using Macs since long before the 1400c appeared on the landscape and we may be able to help - but if you're looking for a whole lot of other 1400c users, I'm afraid you're going to be out of luck here, and pretty much everywhere else on the net.

OK , It is a 1400c and maybe I am a tad sensitive to &*$:.#
people criticizing.I apologise...especially to nookie.
Come to think of it, that's part of my problem-Lack of Nookie!
Anyway - my question[plea?] Is Why - Machines such as my outdated PB still cost a arm and/or leg to upgrade with sonnet cards particularly?
Kind of takes the fun out of upgrading never mind the $s out of my pocket. The easy answer I suspect, is buy a newer machine for the same price an upgrade would cost; but that's no fun, and where I live, Mac's are scarce. I'm perfectly happy with OS 9.. on my desktop Mac and in the near future have no requirement for anything faster. But I'd really like to sync 1400c with desktop machine and without g3 upgrade I'm probably stuck with OS 8...limit-correct? Any alternative suggestions
or offers of reduntant appropiate sonnet cards that I'll pay for?
