Hi, ive just bought an ibook, its awesome, greatest OS in the market, and the design is one of the best ive seen, but today i was looking at the Tiger OS review and they said that the mac was going to have a great year of revolution and progress. My question is, does this means that the ibook are going to get a BIG change soon with the arrival of Tiger OS?
Tnxs,
Homer.

From my uderstanding the answer is no. The biggest thing is that Tiger will be able to use the full potential of the G5 proccessor because it is a 64bit. As far as the iBook is concerned the only thing that would make tiger sagnificantly better is if it recieved a G5. Obviously this is not going to happen in the next year and if it does I will be very surprised. Besides the PB is going to see this first. We will still get all the cool little toys but it will prbably run like panther does now with some improvement. It should be alot stronger too. Here is a link that you can watch that will show you some of the cool things that Tiger can do. Oh! With the core audio, video, and image will make a huge jump in editing these types of things. With the new quicktime codec you will be able to watch dvd quality movies off of a cdr as well. there are alot more things but it is described in this video.

Upgrading your ram will not effect the warranty. So go for it

PowerBook 12" Combo 1.5Ghz 1.25GB Ram 100GB HDD - Yep it's PPC! I'll wait for the 3rd generation MacTel when they're at their best :)

As far as I know the only thing the iBook will not support is Core Video.
