I was shutting down my iBook G3 900 and it locked up, so I held down the power button for a few seconds, and it finally shut down. When I rebooted, however, I lost my desktop background, my menubar and startup programs reset, the dock was reset to factory... tons of stuff was reset.

The iBook still recognized my username and password, and everything is still on the hard drive... but all of my preferences reset.

Anyone have any idea what happened?

Thanks!
-Nitz

Figured it out. My roommate thought it'd be real funny to move my /user/library/preferences/ folder onto the desktop... That reset everything. All I had to do was move the old /preferences/ folder back to it's correct location, and it was all back to normal.

ROTFL! If s/he's a windoze user, download one of those screen filp programs and put it in their startup folder.
