Alright, I've got a 800 Mhz TiBook, I just did all the software updates (OS X 10.3.7 and Airport 4.1) I recently purchased a Airport Card and installed it, but when I boot OS X it doesn't see the card at all. I tried re-seating the card, but no change. I ran Hardware test and the Airport Card and Logic board both passed. finally, I put the Airport card in an original clamshell iBook. The card seems to work, as I can see my wireless network (and others) but wasn't actually able to surf the web for whatever reason.
Since I'm new to Mac, is there anything I can do to try and fix this problem with my TiBook? I really need to be wire-free an I don't like the idea of a PC Card sticking out of my powerbook.

When you say OS X "doesn't see the card at all", have you checked the Apple System Profiler (Apple menu --> About this Mac --> More information)?
Have you switched on the Airport interface in System Preferences --> Network?
The iBook being able to connect to networks but not browse the internet, btw, is because you have to switch on Internet sharing on the machine sharing its connection to the network.

I made sure the antenna is in tight, in fact if I remember correctly, the head of the connector was flush with the body of the Airport card so it couldn't go in any further.
As for the System profiler, I checked it and it just says "No information found" in the Airport catagory. Aslo, when I open up my network settings, I can only modify settings for the internal modem, or the built-in ethernet. The Airport card is not even a choice in the menu.
and to re-iterate, the card passed Hardware Test CD in my powerbook, and it works in another Mac, So either there is some software problem on my TiBook, or a hardware problem with the TiBook (NOOO!!!)
please advise.

it might be worth a shot to try resetting your power management unit after you install the airport card...just a thought.

This may be a little too basic, so I hope you won't be insulted, but in the Network Pref panel, are you activating the airport port and have you dragged it to the top of the list of available network ports?
If none of this works, do you have a friend with a PMCIA wireless card that you could try? Any wireless card based on the Broadcom chip will work natively in Panther, which would be a way to test the actual airport software setup. For example, target.com sells the Buffalo AirStation 54g card, model # WLI-CB-G54A for $30 (web only). The model # of the mac-compatible card ends in a "A", if the model number ends in another letter then it's not for the mac: (target.com also seems to have the best price)
