I have two PowerBooks, a 17" with a GeForce 64MB video card and a 15" with an ATI 32MB video card. My question is, will a better video card give you sharper better color over another card? I ask because I was in the Apple store the other day, and I was looking at a 23" ACD that was hooked up to a PowerMac, and the screen appeared sharper and more colorful than when I hook either of my PowerBooks up to my 23" ACD at home. For reference both PowerBooks and the ACD have all been calibrated with a Monaco XR and OptixPRO software.

i actually don' t think so. the sharper/better color should come from the LCD itself.

And I am quite certain it doesn't make a difference. With a digital connection, the graphics card has no impact on color rendering (well, in 3D rendering perhaps, but that's not relevant here).

For sharpness: is the display being run at the correct, native resolution?
For color: the calibration may be off.

That is what I thought, no relevance.

Yes, my displays are set to native resolution, so was the display at the Apple store. It must be the fact that the display at the Apple store was not calibrated, and mine are. It could also be the fact that my background is set to neutral gray, and the ACD at the store was set to aqua blue, which could change the overall effect.

Thanks for you answers.
