Alright, I have a 800mhz tibook dvi... I dig it.... pretty sweet machine. However, Amazon is selling 12" 1.2 ghz g4 ibooks for $850. that siad, I'm contemplating selling this tibook to get the ibook... however, there area few concerns. First off, size.... not sure about hte keyboard and screen being smaller... I like this size... but I'll play with one tomorrow at compusa to be sure. Secondly, and most importantly, PERFORMANCe. Obviously the ibook has a faster chip, but it might be slower. Check this out:

Note how the 867 tibook spanks the 1ghz ibooks.... hte ibooks lack the cache of the tibooks, and also... I think the video card in the ibooks are shittier as well. Yep. You heard me. The 9200 is CRAPPIER tahn the 7500.

According to these tests, the 9200 is significantly slower tha the 7500....

what do you guys think?

What will use the laptop for? The 12-inch iBooks with enough ram are sweet though.

no, a 9200 is faster than a 7500 and it has pixel shader support. Mhz doesnt mean a thing.

I recommend bringing in a DVD to a CompUSA (like I did) or Apple store and trying it in a 15" (like what you have) and then in the 12" screen. Years ago I had my mind on a 12" but the screen was not up to par quality wise with my 667 DVI Ti. book. It was not just the small screen size but the actual color and resolution quality, but like I say this was years ago; don't know if they have gotten any better... I knew I could never be satisfied so I got a 17". I'm just sayin' be sure about the screen; you KNOW what the 15" screen does for you. You really need to simply see for yourself.

I have a Ti 667 DVI and just got rid of a 1ghz IBook G4.
I would have kept both but I just wasn't that impressed witht the ibook construction quality.
I had a G3 ibook earlier and got rid of it for the Ti.

I really like the widescreen and use the Ti as my desktop machine.
I have it maxed out with ram and it runs well for most things.

I could not give up thhe screen and I like the keyboard a lot better too.
The Ibook keyboard was very mushy and flexed while typing.

I recently got a 12"PB and the thing feels much nicer to me than the Ibook did.
I am traveling with it now annd really like it.
I think I will keep both so I have the screen at home and the portability when on the road.

It is really just what feels and looks best to you. I also say go compare them side by side but bring your Ti with you to do it.

Good Luck.

I didn't ever refer to the mhz of the cards, I was talking about the testing between the both of them. The 9200 has pixel shader support, but it is not as fast as the 7500, nor can it move as much information. Apparently you did not read the link I posted.

where in that "article" is the actual performance of the cards presented? the 9200 is a much faster card than the 7500.
