powerbook g4 mac os x..

the symbol for the keyboard lights shows up and i can ajust it but the keyboard lights are not showing up.. i have ticked illuminate keyboard in low light conditions i am in a dark room .. bascially all conditions have been met in order for the lights to work .. they have worked before.. but now they are not.. the symbol does show up undisabled and therefore something is happening but no light is showing up ,., HELP PLEASE

Is your machine still under warranty?
