Yes, it will help.

On 15s and 17s, you can go to 2GB. I assume it's the same for your model of PB (I have a rev c PB17 and it's much better at graphic work with 1.5GB of ram (I upgraded from a 768 shortly after getting it).

Before I used to have 768MB in my Rev B 12" and now I have 1.25MB and it's soo much better. Not having to worry about how many apps are open at the same time is such a relief, no more playing that stupid game. Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat, Word, Freehand MX, iTunes, iChat, iCal, Temp Monitor, and Activity Monitor all running without a hitch. I only wish I had a faster HD sometimes.....oh well.

I think it's like this:

the TiBooks maxed out at 1GB of RAM (2 x 512MB modules)
the 15"/17" AlBooks max out at 2GB (2 x 1GB)
the 867Mhz 12" AlBook maxes out at 640MB (128MB on-board + 512MB module...reports of folks getting 1GB modules to work though)
the 1Ghz+ 12" AlBooks max out at 1.25GB (256MB on-board + 1GB module)

I'm at 768MB myself on my TiBook and am consdering bumping it to 1GB to max it out. If/when I decide to finally upgrade and it's a 12" model I'm definately maxing the machine out.

EDIT: fixed the AlBook 12"/867Mhz min RAM to be 128MB (thanks iREZ)

Actually the 867MHz 12" has 128MB built in and the max was 640MB, but there are a few cases of people sucessfully getting a 1GB stick in it.

I think that 256 MB is actually removable, just not supported. I think you need to take the whole machine apart to do it and I remember it being a different kind of RAM.

1GB on the Ti.

Once I saw the powerbook line go up to 2GB, I sold the ti and got my current book.

2GB is great, but I will always take more..:-).

Oh...right...thanks. I didn't know about the 1GB sticks working though...that's cool...
