The time depends entirely on what you are doing at the moment. If you open Activity Monitor in 10.3, you can see if your machine is busy processing something. If so, this will reduce your time.

To calibrate the battery, set the machine not to sleep; then turn off the backlight and let the machine sit until the battery dies. Then charge the battery fully and see if your listed time is any different.

It is possible that your battery is wearing down faster than most.

i tried everything and no avail, is something like this covered through applecare? i barely use my notebook with the battery. most of the time the computer is plugged in the outlet while im @ school. if not its pretty terrible for a battery to last in that short of a time period.

it seems as if my capacity is lowered by a lot everytime I run down the battery. i started with about 4650mAh according to Terminal when I got it a little less than 4 months ago. I've run down the battery 5 times since then and I'm down to 4227? didn't think it would be that fast of a depletion

I've got a battery that doesn't show a charge. The green indicator lights won't light up at all. I had it in a COLD car for 3 hours a few weeks ago.

Brought it into the house and woke the computer from sleep. Since then it hasn't registered ANY charge. The computer warned about a low battery and went immediately into sleep mode. I thought I'd wait for the battery to warm up and charging while doing so.

Does anyone know if my battery was destroyed by running it while really COLD?!? It was less than 10 degrees out.

Cold temperatures do not do batteries any good. The effects could be either temporary or permanent. So yes, that could have killed the battery.

By the way: When taking any piece of electronic equipment from one temperature extreme to another, it is best to let it set for about 24 hours in the new environment before powering up. Failure to do so can result in damage due to condensation. YMMV.
